OMFT – Reference Dual Polarization IQ Transmitter
The Optical Multi-Format Transmitter (OMFT) is a fully integrated optical frontend instrument designed to convert electrical RF signals into Dual Polarization IQ modulated optical signals. It serves well as a standard transmitter for receiver characterization or reference transmitter setups. Our in-house developed automated BIAS control is completely RF-amplitude and modulation format independent, allowing users to apply customized RF input signals without manual tweaking. This feature guarantees operation at the optimal operating point, ensuring stable performance over time and seamless switching between different modulation schemes.
Key features
3 variants:
- Class 80: Bandwidth beyond 80 GHz supporting 170 GBaud
- Class 60: Bandwidth of 60 GHz, supporting baud rates beyond 120 GBaud
- Class 40: Bandwidth beyond 40 GHz, supporting baud rates up to 96 GBaud
- Unparalleled signal fidelity due to a zero-noise feature, high repeatability and dependability of optical signal quality
- Seamless integration with Keysight AWGs
- Integrated high fidelity narrow linewidth tunable laser source (25 kHz linewidth)
Typical Applications
- Research in advanced optical modulation formats (M-QAM, DP-QPSK, OFDM, etc.)
- Multi-channel transmission experiments for system design testing and optimization (optical communication, quantum key distribution, LiDAR, defense, etc.)
- Golden reference transmitter
- Coherent optical receiver testing and characterization
